Rites of the Church

Did you know the Catholic Church is made up of many “churches”? There are many churches in our Church, each with various cultures, liturgies, and expressions of the One True Faith! If your student is interested in “breathing with both lungs” of the Church, have them come to this course to learn about the fullness of the body of Christ.

Description

This course is designed to help students understand the “two lungs of the church” , the Eastern and Western Rites. Learning about the history, culture, and movements of these churches will help your student have a greater understanding of the Catholic World.

Class 3: The Great Schism
Class 4: Did Jesus establish one Church?
Class 5: Many roads to Rome
Class 6: Review for Midterm
Class 7: Byzantine Rites
Class 8: Syrian Rites
Class 9: Latin Rites
Class 10: Why do we have Rites?
Class 11: Unification of the Church
Class 12: Review for Final

Materials and Homework

Course materials: Readings will be provided FREE by the instructor as PDF files

Homework: Each class, students will be required to read 15-20 pages and take a short answer quiz graded by the parents.
