Little House on the Prairie, Part Two

Register today to learn literature, American history, and the virtues of the pioneers – and have fun at the same time! We will spend two semesters reading the entire Little House series.

Total classes: 12

Duration: 45 minutes per class

Prerequisite: None

Suggested grade level: 6th to 8th grade.

Suggested credit: One full semester credit American Literature or Modern Literature

Description

We will make our way through some of the best works of children’s literature ever written, reading the books in order of publication over two semesters. Mr. O’Brien will emphasize the literary aspect of the books (themes, characters, setting, etc.) as well as the historical and cultural values they convey – including lessons on Christian virtue.

The box set also includes the five books that will be read in Part Two (Spring Semester).

Homework: Occasional quizzes, plus about two hours of reading per week.
