Saxon Math 7/6, Part One (Weekly Lessons) Fourth Edition

Master middle school math with the 7/6 Saxon Math course introducing functions and coordinate graphing, integers, exponential expressions, and prime factorization. Students will also learn about the order of operations, number lines, decimal place value, how to find the percent of a number, how to round decimal numbers, the attributes of geometric solids, and more.

Total classes: 14

Prerequisite: Saxon 6/5 or equivalent. Saxon placement test can be found at https://www.sonlight.com/homeschool/curriculum/placement-tests/saxon-placement-tests/

Suggested grade level: 7th grade or advanced 6th grade

Suggested credit: One full semester Math

Description

Building upon the principles taught in Saxon Math 6/5, Saxon Math 7/6 textbook introduces functions and coordinates graphing, integers, exponential expressions, and prime factorization. Students will specifically learn about the order of operations, number lines, decimal place value, how to find the percent of a number, how to round decimal numbers, attributes of geometric solids, and more.

Lessons contain a warm-up (with facts practice, mental math, & problem-solving exercises); introduction to the new concept, lesson practice exercises where the new skill is practiced, and mixed practice exercises, which includes 25-30 old and new problems. In-depth optional “Investigations” are provided every 10 lessons and have their own set of questions.

Materials and Homework

Course Materials: Saxon 7/6 Homeschool Kit, Fourth Edition. Other materials include a compass, protractor, ruler, graph paper, and a scientific calculator.

Homework: Daily assignments (aside from test days) taking 10-25 minutes, with weekly quizzes and tests occurring every week to two weeks.
