Beginning with the closing days of the Ottoman Empire, students will learn how imperialism, nationalism, and other movements shaped the formation of the contemporary Middle East, with the goal of giving students a greater understanding of the current situation in this volatile part of the world.

Total classes: 14

Prerequisite: None, but Modern European History recommended (Available through Unlimited Access).

Suggested grade level: 9th to 12th

Suggested credit: 1 full semester History or World History

Course Materials: PowerPoint installed on your home computer. All other materials provided FREE by the instructor.

Homework: Readings provided by the instructor, weekly quizzes, and occasional short answer/essay questions, estimated 3 hrs per week including PowerPoint review.

Answer Key: An answer key booklet is not included with this course. Quizzes are self-grading through Moodle and instructor access is available.
