Are you interested in psychology? Considering it as a college major or minor? This course will give an overview of topics that would be covered in an introductory psychology course in college from a Catholic perspective.

Suggested grade level: 11th to 12th grade. Accelerated 10th-grade students welcome.
Suggested credit: One full semester of Psychology or College Preparatory Psychology.

This course will be an introduction to all the major areas of psychology. Students will learn about prominent psychological theories and research and be challenged to think critically about these theories and how they apply to the modern world through a Catholic point of view.
Parents should note that mature topics will be touched upon in Developmental Psychology, Personality, and Social Psychology. These topics include gender, Freud’s psychosexual theory, and stereotyping and prejudice.

Homework: There will be pre-recorded lectures to view in addition to the recordings. Students will take online quizzes and complete weekly written activities and discussion questions. An application paper applying psychological principles to some form of media will also be required (approx. four to six pages). Expect to spend 1-3 hours per week on homework outside of class.
