About Tom Stewart

Tom Stewart learned his first German words at the age of four from his German babysitter. From that time on, a fondness for the German language continued to grow. He took part in the Deutsch in Graz program, achieving the proficiency level C2, the highest level for the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Afterwards he graduated with an MA in Germanic Literatures and Language from the University of Cincinnati. As a graduate student, he especially enjoyed introducing new students not only to this rich and beautiful language, but also to the culture and literature of the German-speaking world. His interest in languages is not limited to German; he has also studied Russian, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Japanese.

Language learning requires unique skills that are not difficult to learn, but that must be developed. He looks forward to working with students to help them develop these skills. Learning a foreign language is not easy, but the rewards of communicating with people in their own language are great.
