Saxon Math 7/6, Part Two

Master middle school math with the 7/6 Saxon Math course introducing functions and coordinate graphing, integers, exponential expressions, and prime factorization. Students will also learn about the order of operations, number lines, decimal place value, how to find the percent of a number, how to round decimal numbers, the attributes of geometric solids, and more.

**Suggested grade level: **6th to 7th grade

**Suggested credit: **One full semester Middle School Math

Building upon the principles taught in Saxon Math 6/5, Saxon Math 7/6 introduces functions and coordinate graphing, integers, exponential expressions, and prime factorization. Students will specifically learn about the order of operations, number lines, decimal place value, how to find the percent of a number, how to round decimal numbers, attributes of geometric solids, and more.

Lessons contain a warm-up (with facts practice, mental math, & problem-solving exercises); introduction to the new concept, lesson practice exercises where the new skill is practiced, and mixed practice exercises, which includes 25-30 old and new problems. In-depth “Investigations” are provided every 10 lessons, and have their own set of questions.

Week 1-3: Lessons 61-70

Week 4-5: Lessons 71-80

Week 6-7: Lessons 81-90

Week 8-9: Lessons 91-100

Week 10-11: Lessons 101-110

Week 12-14: Lessons 111-120

**Course materials:** Saxon 7/6 Homeschool Kit, Fourth Edition (https://setonbooks.com/math/1768-saxon-76-homeschool-4th-edition-home-study-kit.html). Other materials include a compass, protractor, ruler, graph paper, and scientific calculator.

**Homework:** Daily assignments (aside from test days) taking 10-25 minutes, with weekly quizzes and tests occurring every week to two weeks.

**Class dates:** Wednesdays, January 10 to April 24, 2024. (No class Feb. 14 or March 27)

**Starting time: **4:00 PM Eastern (3:00 Central; 2:00 Mountain; 1:00 Pacific)

** Duration per class: **45 minutes
