Saxon Algebra 1/2, Part Two

In this pre-algebra course, you will develop strong problem-solving skills and learn to work through equations with clear critical thinking. Sign up to build a solid foundation and be ready for Algebra 1 next school year.

Prerequisite: Saxon Algebra 1/2 Part One or equivalent. Saxon placement test can be found at https://www.sonlight.com/homeschool/curriculum/placement-tests/saxon-placement-tests/

Suggested grade level: 8th to 9th grade

Suggested credit: One full semester Math


This text is the summit of pre-algebra mathematics. Part two of a full pre-algebra course and with an introduction to geometry. Some topics included are final reviews of fractions & decimals, order of operations, coordinates, exponents, square roots, ratios, algebraic phrases, and probability.
Lessons contain the introduction to the new concept, lesson practice exercises where the new skill is practiced, and mixed practice exercises, which includes 25-30 old and new problems.

Week 4-5: Lessons 71-80
Week 6-7: Lessons 81-90
Week 8-9: Lessons 91-100
Week 10-11: Lessons 101-110
Week 12-14: Lessons 111-123

Materials and Homework

Course materials: Saxon Algebra 1/2 Homeschool Kit, Third Edition (https://setonbooks.com/math/1836-saxon-algebra-1-2-3rd-edition-home-study-kit.html). Other materials include compass, protractor, ruler, graph paper, and scientific calculator.

Homework: Daily assignments (aside from test days) taking 10-25 minutes, with weekly quizzes and tests occurring every week to two weeks.
